MSc Program

A four semester program to impart in-depth knowledge of molecular cell biology, computational biology and their applications. The curriculum covers courses in thermodynamics, spectroscopy, enzymology, metabolism, genetics, cell biology, analytical biochemistry and microbiology, molecular biology, genetic engineering, immunology, molecular biophysics and bioinformatics, together with relevant laboratory programs, and a research project leading to a dissertation.

Admissions (for Indian nationals): Through JAM

Admissions (for foreign nationals):  

  • Qualification in JAM is NOT mandatory for foreign nationals (i.e., those who are not Indian nationals).
  • Foreign nationals seeking admission to the MSc (Biotechnology) program need to apply online at this URL: https://portal.iitb.ac.in/intadm/login
  • Eligibility criteria:
    (1) Candidate must be a foreign national
    (2) The last qualifying degree must be from a foreign university/Institute
    (3) Medium of instruction in the last qualifying degree should be English
  • Admission procedure: Applications satisfying the above three criteria will be scrutinized (courses undertaken in the last qualifying degree, grades) by the Department of Biosciences and Bioengineering. This will be followed by a written test and/or interview.
