Principal Investigator

Dr. Prasenjit Bhaumik

I have done B.Sc. in Chemistry (Hons) from Ramakrishna Mission Residential College, Narendrapur, University of Calcutta. I have obtained M.Sc. degree in Biotechnology from Biotechnology Center (now, Department of Biosciences and Bioengineering), IIT Bombay. My Ph.D. research work at the Dept. of Biochemistry in University of Oulu, Finland involved protein crystallographic studies on enzymes alpha-methylacyl-CoA racemase and argininosuccinate lyase to decipher their catalytic mechanism. During my postdoc I have worked at NCI Frederick on structural studies of aspartic proteases from P. falciparum. My current research is focused on understanding the structure-function relationship of enzymes, protein complexes and structure based drug development.

Post Doctoral Fellows

Dr. Pranita Uttamrao Patil

I have completed my M.Sc. in Biochemistry from the University of Hyderabad. I have pursued my Ph.D. from the Molecular Biophysics lab at IIT Hyderabad. My Ph.D. research involved understanding the role of sequence, structure, and dynamics of the proteins associated with SARS-CoV-2, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, and Saccharomyces cerevisiae using biophysical and computational approaches. My research interests lie at the intersection of biophysics, structural biology, and molecular dynamics simulations. Currently, I am an Institute Postdoctoral Fellow (IPDF) in the Protein Crystallography Lab in the Department of Biosciences and Bioengineering at IIT Bombay since May 2025.

Mr. Satadru Chakraborty

I have completed my M.Sc. (Biotechnology) degree from Department of Biosciences and Bioengineering, IIT Bombay. I have joined the Protein Crystallography Lab in June 2021 as a PhD student. My research work is focused on the studies of pepsin-like aspartic proteases from apicomplexan parasites.
