Speaker Bio:


Professor Chang
is a medical innovator at Stanford University since 2009. His academic mission combines providing state-of-the-art eye care, validating new ophthalmic technologies, and teach healthcare innovation locally and globally. His practice concentrates on minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) and presbyopia-correcting cataract surgery with emphasis on data-driven precision medicine. His research lab organizes a large Stanford glaucoma registry and bio- respository. He is the Stanford glaucoma fellowship Co-director and teaches medical entrepreneurship from design thinking and implementation science training perspectives. Dr. Chang co-invented the first universal smartphone adaptor to take pictures of the front and back and the eye and raised venture funding previously for a digital health wearable. He currently serves as an advisor to multiple companies and is the Stanford Medical Director of Employer-Based Optometry. Dr. Chang received his MD from the combined BA/MD program at the University of Missouri, Kansas City School of Medicine. He completed his residency at the prestigious Washington University in St. Louis, followed by a research and clinical glaucoma fellowship at the renowned Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami. He has published over 68 peer-reviewed papers, delivered several hundred invited national and international lectures, and holds multiple patents..
