Post Doctoral Fellows

Harini Kannan

I have completed my M.S., Ph.D. from IIT Madras. I joined the chromosome and plasmid segregation lab as an Institute postdoctoral fellow. Currently, I am working on computational aspects of analysing the Hi-C data from Saccharomyces cerevisiae. My research also focuses on molecular dynamics simulations of yeast chromosomal proteins in complex with Holliday Junction DNA.

Shubhomita Mallick

(Ph.D. Student)

Hello, I secured my integrated MSc degree in Biotechnology from St Xavier’s College Kolkata, 2021. I have then qualified CSIR-UGC JOINT NET (June,2021) and GATE BT & XL (Feb,2022). In 2023, I have worked as a JRF under DBT project in the same lab. I am now pursuing my PhD on the Joint project in between the chromosome & plasmid segregation and CryoEM structural biology lab. My current research involves structural characterization of the kinetochore multiprotein complex using budding yeast as my primary model system and utilize CryoEM approach.

Radhika Bera

(Ph.D. Student)

Hi, I obtained my Master’s in Biotechnology from D.Y. Patil Institute of Biotechnology and
Bioinformatics, Pune. After qualifying Joint CSIR-UGC NET June 2023, I joined the
Chromosome and Plasmid Segregation lab in January 2024 to pursue my PhD. My
research project involves elucidating the stability and maintenance of a selfish genetic
element, the 2-micron plasmid, naturally found in Saccharomyces cerevisiae.
