Ranjith Padinhateeri
Professor, Biosciences and Bioengineering
Dr. PV Sukhatme Chair Professor
Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, Mumbai

My research interest is to understand biology by analysing data using ideas from statistics and making models based on physical principles. In my group, we focus on two broad research questions: (i) How chromatin/DNA (the genetic material) is organised in space and time inside living cells. (ii) How self-assembly and dynamics of certain proteins contribute towards decision-making within cells? We use computer simulations — molecular simulations — to answer these questions.
