Sourav Ghosh

I was born and brought up in Kolkata “The City of Joy”. I completed my Master’s in Biochemistry from the University of Calcutta and joined the Bacterial Pathogenesis lab in 2019. I am interested in exploring the different aspects of cellular immunity in eukaryotic cells. In my spare time, I love to watch Manchester United play.

Suvapriya Roy

I am from the “City of Joy”, Kolkata. I have completed my Master’s in Zoology from Maulana Azad College, under the University of Calcutta, and joined the Bacterial pathogenesis lab in January 2021. I will be exploring the host cellular defense mechanisms to evade infections by cytosolic pathogens during my journey to the IIT Bombay.

Sudipti Shaw

I was born and raised in Kolkata. I joined Bacterial Pathogenesis Lab in January 2022 after completing my Integrated MSc. in Biotechnology from St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata. During my Ph.D., I will explore different mechanisms of detection and degradation of bacterial substrates within infected host cells. I relax by watching sunsets, walking, gardening, and painting.

Sumit Rakshit

I hail from Bankura, West Bengal. After graduating with a B.Sc. degree in Microbiology from Ramakrishna Mission Vidyamandira, Belur Math, I joined IIT Bombay in July 2021 as a M.Sc. student. I became engaged with this group in June 2022 to work on my M.Sc. Project and and subsequently commence my Ph.D. journey in July 2023. I’m interested in exploring the defence mechanisms of cytosolic pathogens against cellular immunity. Beyond the confines of the laboratory, I’ve also garnered a reputation as a fervent foodie amongst my peers.

Srijit Kumar Mandal

Born and brought up in Kolkata, I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Zoology from Calcutta University. I pursued my master’s degree at IIT Bombay and joined the bacterial pathogenesis lab during my master’s project work.  Starting from July 2024, I am continuing my academic journey as a PhD student in the same lab, exploring various facets of the host’s innate defense mechanisms following bacterial infections. Outside of academia, I enjoy watching football and exploring new places whenever I can find spare time.

Udit Kumar Das

I hail from Hooghly and am blessed to witness the scenic beauty of the River Ganges every morning. I have a bachelor’s degree in zoology from Ramakrishna Mission Vidyamandira, Belur. I pursued my Master’s in Biotechnology from IIT Bombay and joined Bacterial Pathogenesis lab in 2024. My research interest deals with unraveling the mysteries of the intricate world of Host-pathogen interaction and how bacteria adapt themselves against the innate immune system. Except for science, my passion lies in watching F1 racing and enjoying the sweet grunts of powerful engines.

Harshita Panchal

I’m from Haryana and completed my Bachelor’s at the University of Delhi. Later, I pursued my Master’s in Biotechnology at IIT Bombay. In 2025, I joined the Bacterial Pathogenesis Lab. Currently, I am exploring the intricate dynamics of interactions and conflicts between the host and bacterial pathogens. When I’m not in the lab, I love watching K-dramas, listening to music, drawing, and petting animals.

Dr. Ankush Paladhi

I am from Birbhum, West Bengal. I completed my PhD in Cancer Immunology from Burdwan University. My thesis focused on the T-cell response to chemo-immunotherapy in colon cancer prognosis. I love to watch and capture Mount Kanchenjunga again and again.

Dr. Anwesha Adhikary

I am from Howrah, West Bengal. I joined Bacterial Pathogenesis Lab in January 2024, shortly after finishing my PhD from IIT Kharagpur on  efflux pump-mediated drug resistance, metal-antibiotic cross-resistance, and the involvement of efflux pumps in bacterial biofilm formation. I will be exploring the mechanism of heterogeneity genesis in Streptococcus pneumoniae. I love books, big old trees, autumn skies, and the oceans.
