IITB PROUDLY HOSTS ‘TARGETED PROTEOMICS WORKSHOP AND INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM’ FROM 10TH-14TH DECEMBER, 2015 |

Mumbai, Nov 22, 2015

Targeted Proteomics Workshop and International Symposium (10 – 14 Dec 2015) at IIT Bombay, is conceptualized to primarily apprise delegates with the latest development in the field of proteomics with focus on hypothesis-driven targeted proteomics. Validation of biomarkers for cancer and other diseases remains a bottleneck and in the area of precision medicine, and targeted proteomics has emerged as the branch of study involving the validation of protein biomarkers encoded in the genetic blueprint of a biological system. This event will receive the participation of 75+ internationally renowned speakers/ instructors involved in cutting-edge research in the field of Proteomics and 900+ participants from over 10+ countries.

This event will see several dignitaries, including:

Dr. Mark Baker – President, Human Proteome Organization (HUPO)
Dr. Robert Moritz – Vice-President, Human Proteome Organization (HUPO)
Dr. Joshua LaBaer – President, United States President of Human Proteome Organization (US-HUPO)
Dr. Sudhir Srivastava – Chief of the Cancer Biomarkers Research Group, National Cancer Institute, NIH
Mr. Brendan MacLean – Head of Skyline Group, University of Washington
Dr. Surekha Zingde – President, Proteomics Society India

Providing top insights in the context of Targeted Proteomics, Prof. Sanjeeva Srivastava, the convener of the event says, “Targeted proteomics has become a very strong tool for the validation of biomarkers, which is really needed for the translational research. I had experience of conducting two weeklong courses at the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, New York during my research tenure at Harvard Medical School. I always wanted to bring such quality courses/ workshops to India. I am glad that international experts from over 10 countries have decided to visit us in IIT Bombay and conduct 5-days long courses/ workshop/symposium in Dec 2015. This is a unique opportunity for the students and college teachers in biology/ biotechnology area and they are encouraged to participate in this event”.
