Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce “Targeted Proteomics Workshop and International Symposium (TPWIS)”, which is scheduled at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, India from 10th to 14th December 2015.

Targeted proteomics is emerging as a promising tool for the proteomics researchers with interest in quantifying specific proteins in complex mixtures, thus not only helping validate interesting targets but also providing a deep understanding of biology. The Targeted Proteomics Workshop and International Symposium will be focused on hypothesis-driven proteomics for such validation studies, to know when and how to move from the discovery to a targeted phase of proteomics research, and improve confidence in initial results and progress to findings with clinical relevance.

Quality control and system suitability plays a critical role in acquiring high-quality quantitative data. This event will cover topics like targeted studies, targeted methods and statistical tools required for study designing. Primarily, the focus will be on Single Reaction Monitoring (SRM), Parallel Reaction Monitoring (PRM), Absolute Protein Quantification, popular platforms like Skyline, experimental design and quality control, data analysis, downstream processing of data and subjects which are integral to targeted proteomics. We anticipate that this international event will accelerate the establishment of global standards for data acquisition, analysis, comparison, exchange and verification, which is crucial for reducing the variability and successful translational research. This focused event on “Targeted Proteomics” will undoubtedly be a great opportunity for the students, young researchers and industry experts to familiarize them with recent advancement and significant achievements in targeted proteomics research and integration of discovery based shotgun proteomics, which would also facilitate extended interactions with leading proteomics scientists of the world.

Two focused workshops on “Targeted Proteomics” and “Trans-proteomic pipeline” will be held from 10th to 14th December 2015 in parallel sessions. The “International symposium” is scheduled on 13th and 14th December 2015. Mr. Brendan MacLean from University of Washington will coordinate the targeted proteomics workshop and Dr. Robert Moritz will coordinate Trans-Proteomic Pipeline workshop. Several international distinguished scientists, including Dr. Mark Baker (president HUPO), Dr. Joshua LaBaer (President, US-HUPO), Dr. Jennifer Van Eyk,Dr. Leigh Anderson, Dr. Bruno Domon, Dr. Jacob Jaffe, Dr. Olga Vitekand others will participate in workshop and international symposium.

The Indian Proteomics community has long been nurtured by the Proteomics Society, India. The annual meetings of PSI have been instrumental in bringing together the proteomics community to encourage exchange of ideas, increase collaborations; enhancing innovations at the National and International level. The Targeted Proteomics Workshop and International Symposium is a satellite event in the light of enhancing educational activity in this focused area and would feature participation fromdistinguished scientists. Participants are greatly encouraged to attend the impactful 7th Annual PSI Meeting of PSI (, which is to be held in Vellore this year during 3rd-6th December 2015.

This focused international event on Targeted Proteomics in IIT Bombay, Mumbai will provide an opportunity for the proteomics community to share scientific ideas and challenges faced in quantitative and targeted proteomics experiments. We are looking forward to welcome you to this highly stimulating Targeted Proteomics event scheduled in beautiful campus of IIT Bombay.

Sincerely yours,

Dr. Sanjeeva Srivastava
